Sending Aloha To Our Triathlon Racers

During the month of October, our small town of Kailua-Kona, Hawai’i is transformed from a sleepy, tranquil village into the global epicenter of endurance athletics: the Ironman®
World Championships. This incredible triathlon, held along the rugged coast of western Hawai’i, brings tens of thousands of athletes, family and fans to the region for one of the most demanding races on the planet.
For the athletes, even being invited to the event represents the culmination of a lifetime of training. The Ironman® World Championships is the end of a long, grueling year of races across the world—an invite-only event. To be here is to win, already. To cross the finish line at the end of the race is simply the cherry on top for these athletes, many of whom have worked endlessly to be invited to this prestigious event.
During race day, our café becomes a spectator hub thanks to its location near the start and finish of the race. Many locals and visitors enjoy celebrating and encouraging the athletes as they pass our café, and it's the perfect place for fans to refuel and cool down. We look forward to it every year, and we revel in the memories for months afterwards.

We believe that the tens of thousands of athletes and fans that visit each year for the Ironman® World Championships are part of the lifeblood of Kailua-Kona, and a huge part of what makes Kona Coffee & Tea so special.
When we heard that the Ironman® World Championships was cancelled in Kona until October 2022, we first thought of all the athletes that we’ve hosted in our café from around the world. We feel deeply for you and hope we can see you next October. We look forward to welcoming you once again when it is safe to do so.
